California man killed in Route 27 crash in Edison – My Central Jersey

EDISON – Police have identified a 51-year-old California man who was killed in a Route 27 crash on Monday.

Lt. Robert Dudash said the victim, John B. Tanchak of Mill Valley, California, has family living in New Jersey.

At about 8:48 a.m. Monday, Tanchak was driving a 2019 GMC Acadia rental along Route 27.

Police said the vehicle traveled from Route 27 north across the southbound lane, struck a utility pole and a tree trunk, before overturning onto the driver's side.

Tanchak died at the scene, police said.

Police said there were no other occupants in the vehicle.

No determination has been made about the cause of the crash, police said.
