EDISON, NJ – Town officials on Wednesday night lifted the “boil water” advisory for Edison residents.
Officials had collected water sample from the distribution system on Oct. 1 which tested positive for E.Coli.
“These bacteria can make you sick and are especially a concern for people with weakened immune systems,” officials said in a statement.
The water is now safe for use.
Town officials were not sure what caused the contamination. They said a number of reasons could have resulted in it — if run-off enters the drinking water source, due to a break in the distribution system (pipes) or a failure in the water treatment process.
