EDISON, NJ– Edison Township revealed on Wednesday that little homeowner who were impacted by the pandemic will now receive an emergency situation grant from the state federal government. The Small Landlord Emergency Grant Program will offer funding to owners who lost rental earnings in between April to July.
Help will be provided as long as proprietors forgive back rents and late charges for tenants who were not able to make rent, due to loss of earnings during the pandemic.
Only rentals that serve low-income and moderate-income renters will qualify. Owners with three to 10 rentals can apply, and homes must have updated fire assessment certificates, since March 9,2020. Seasonal and vacation rentals are not qualified for the grant.
The grant is moneyed through the CARES Act and will be administered by the New Jersey Housing and Mortgage Finance Agency.
Applications opened on Wednesday, and homeowner have till August 26 to use.
